I told Mother today

I told Mother today that I need to take myself more seriousily, so I am thinking of changing my name to "The Artist That Was formerly Known As Tabs." To which my Mother replied, "You Tabs are truly one delusional twit." To which I laughed and replied, "Delusional, my dear Mother I create delusion, I make it up with my own two hands, I can argue a point from any vantage point you want me to, I can tailor it to your own specific locus of bias." Ouuu that did not go down well with Mother at all...I then said, "What you do not believe me...all I have to say for example is something like...like...do you want to learn something today. That is a hook, one of presumptive superiority that draws you into wanting to open the box to see what is in it. It's simple Mother, really simple." Mother then said she needed a drink, which I thought was a bit early in the day for her.

...and no one wants to see inside your Mother's box either.

Locus of Bias is playing the EnormoDome next week. I believe Mother's Box is opening for them.

Both your posts today have been about objectivity and flexibility in thinking. Vantage point and bias. Tabs, on the one hand, circumspection is a good thing. The correct answer to every question is........"It depends."

On the other hand, ships go nowhere without a rudder. Some folks have a vision, a set of principles, that never ever leaves their sight.

Or, to put it more simply........Everyone has to have something they believe it. I believe I'll have another drink.

I heard they really stink.

I'm pretty sure TABS is alias for Norman Bates. Let's ask his mother. ;)

This version is no less bizarre, but is less hard on the eyes.

I told Mother today I need to take myself more seriousily, and so I am thinking of changing my name to: "The Artist Formerly Known As Tabs."

To which Mother replied: "You, Tabs, are truly one delusional twit."

To which I laughed and replied: "Delusional, my dear Mother? I create delusion! I make it up with my own two hands. I can argue a point from any vantage point. I can tailor it to your own specific locus of bias."

Ohhhh . . . that did not go down well with Mother at all. Then I said, "What? You do not believe me? All I have to say, for example, is something like...like...do you want to learn something today? That is a hook; one of presumptive superiority that draws you into wanting to open the box to see what is in it. It's simple, Mother, really simple."

Mother said she needed a drink. Which I thought was a bit early in the day for her.

That was what editing Edgar Allan Poe must have been like after Mr. Poe had been on a serious laudium binge.

Slightly edited for TV:

I told Mother today I need to take myself more seriously, and so I am thinking of changing my name to, "The Artist Formerly Known As Tabs."

To which the woman replied, "stop following me around, I'm not your mother."

To which I laughed and replied, "delusional, my dear Mother? I create delusion! I make it up with my own two hands. I can argue a point from any vantage point. I can tailor it to your own specific locus of bias."

Ohhh...that did not go down well with Mother at all. hen I said, "What? You do not believe me? All I have to say, for example, is something like...like...do you want to learn something today? That is a hook; one of presumptive superiority that draws you into wanting to open the box to see what is in it. It's simple, Mother, really simple."

The woman said she needed a restraining order. Which I thought was a bit early in the day for her.

Mother today drew a box and named it Prince.

Her tailor pointed out a locust.

Tabs drank a superior hook.

So your saying everyone has to be somewhere. That is why I choose to represent more conservative values...because that is what I tend to believe in. However I am not bound to them, I can see around them. When I look at something I can take my own predilection into account and discount it, in my final analysis.

If you didn't discount it, no one would buy it.

Then again, there is that whole "perceived value" thing...

Now you are talking about the values that we put on things that creates illusion. Everyone has a set bias or emotional likes or dislikes on such a minute scale that it clouds the vision as to what is really there. The set of values includes our emotional like or dislike for things as simple as Pepsi or Coke. A like or dislike for Ketchup on a hamburger or even our like or dislike of hamburgers all together. All those small biases all presents us with illusion of what life is or what is important in life that blocks our vision of what is truly out there. Call it emotional clutter
