A few to consider. He's got a sense of humor

Him and Dre -

I've been digging on this one the last few days. And what is creepy is that rapper Proof was the guy in the video who got shot. The video was done in 2004. In 2006 Proof was shot and killed in an argument over a pool game (Eminem not involved in it).

yup, like both of those Michiganders. They both are incredibly stupid when it comes to the women in their lives, so they are like most guys, which may explain some of their appeal, that and they are both funny as hell

I would enjoy accidentally bouncing his head off the roof of the squad car while arresting him...so yeah I guess I'm not a fan.

Subject: Marshall Mathers III (a.k.a. Eminem, Slim Shady)

Charges: Rapper Eminem was arrested twice on gun charges in June 2000. The first one was for carrying a concealed weapon and assaulting a man he saw kissing his then estranged wife Kim outside of a club. The second one was for allegedly pulling a 9mm semiautomatic gun during a parking lot beef with members of the rival group Insane Clown Posse.

He's brilliant. May not be a perfect person but great artists frequently are not. Come to think of it, average people frequently are not either.

I love all types of music, but for some reason I wrote M&M off very early as a poser/wannabe and never really gave him a fair shake. Based on your post, I'll pick something up from him and give it a shot.

Eminem is great!

Btw. something not very known is where he got his artist name.
The fact is that he is very influenced by and some even claim that he is his real unknown father, i.e. the artist called M.A (pronounced 'Emma') Numminem, here singing a piece by the great philosoph Wittgenstein.

It is true! :D

Oh Haha 12-06-2008 06:14 AM

As a fellow Michigander I respect him for the level of success he has achieved but i don;t care for his music. I like the song he did with Dr. Dre but that's about it.

What I do like about him is that, according to reports, he takes his daughter to school, cuts the grass, and takes the garbage out at his home. Criminy, he's just a regular Dad just like alot of us here on Pelican in that respect.

BTW__I don't care for Bob Seger's music either but that's another thread.

Now insane clown posse I can't get enough of them!

Yo yo yo....

I like certain genres of rap, mostly old skool jazzy mellow hip hop flavor like Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, Gangstar etc etc but also really like some of the controversial early NWA, Snoop and Public Enemy.

I hate the new type of rap which is all about bling, twinky-twos and pimp crap. The last rap CD I bought was a few years ago. It has no staying power and production, lyrics, music is VERY weak.

Some of the M&M music produced by Dre is excellent and M&M puts his style, spin and flair onto the pieces and I respect it and can listen to it. I have not listened to any of his recent work in quite some time and did not realize there was a new album on the way and cannot even give you the name of any previous material of his. Like Sand_Man I initially thought of him as a "flavor of the month with great producers", wanna-be, but kudos to him for making a name and sticking around and becoming successful.

He's not my favorite rapper, but he does some great things. Here's my favorite Eminem performance:

And just because you don't like him, it would be a perfect opportunity for a good shot of the tazer too...

I'm not really into rap all that much, but I'll give it a listen here and there. Eninem is the man...no doubt about it. If you only listen to his production release stuff, you have no idea what you're missing. I heard an underground battle with him where he handed Biggie (I think?) his ass. Destroyed him. The way he thinks that stuff up on the spot, and puts it all together, the man is a literary genius. I'd bet his IQ is through the roof.

Lil Wayne is also hella good, as is Baby. I have an odd respect for a coke-dealing street thug who can start a legitimate business and make a few hundred million dollars.

edit: Immortal Techniques is AWESOME. He's underground, or at least was a few years ago. Better than 99% of the stuff that gets commercially produced.

I hate all rap, especially the "white trash" variety... Vanilla Ice paved the way for these losers...

Typically if your actions don't cause problems then law enforcement doesn't show up.

This guy ranks right up there with Michael Jackson in my book, probably a great musician in their respective realm yet a messed up contributor to society.

Art, comparing Vanilla Ice to Eminem is like comparing a tarted-up Fiero to a GT3. Might seem similar on the surface from far away, but upon closer inspection one is a joke and the other the read deal.

OK, I listened to this whole thing and I didn't hear where he talked about Obama. Hard to catch everything though over the use of "motherfather", "ditch" and gun shots. Literary genius? You have to be joking.
