2003 Jeep Liberty Limited

just got a call from friends in NY. they have a 2003 Jeep Liberty Limited that was the nanny's car that they want to sell. Silver, thing is loaded and has 53K miles on it and was well-maintained since they bought it new.

Anyone looking for such a truck? It's in NY (Pound Ridge) but I can deliver anywhere in the country.

I just repo'd one of those last night. They're pretty nice, they ride well. Decent power, pretty quiet inside. Really good heat.

Man, if it was the CDI or whatever they call the diesel, you'd have interest all over the place. What do they want for it? It's not exactly an uncommon or hard to find vehicle.

yeah, it's just regular gas, nothing special, though as a limited, it's loaded. They would like to get $8K for it, which I think is under-value. I'm researching value, but they want no fuss, no haggling, etc.

That's what we had to do in this economy, we had to fire the Nanny.

My friend has had 2. The first was lemon lawed. The second would have been lemon lawed but he left the company that gave him the vehicles as company cars.

I would stay away based off of his experiences. This is but 2 data points....you may want to research more.

What exactly went wrong with both of his trucks?

I will have to ask him again as that was a couple years ago. I remember transmission and engine on the first. The second I am not sure of.

I have a '06 for a Company car. Things horrible. One of the worst riding/handling vehicles I've ever driven.

Very good friend (and Ducati buddy from Wrentham, as a matter of fact, Shaun) has a Liberty as a company car, as well. He confesses it's a POS. Poor ride as Vinny comments, rough motor, and it's had some electrical glitches, IIRC.

FWIW: Had a rental liberty last year through Avis. 17k miles on it. It would vibrate and shake at idle at the light as if the motor mounts were bad on it.

So do you repo cars with a wrecker or just get spare keys and take it or what? I did some repo work in high school with a wrecker - hated it since I hate "getting into tense situations".

My bud has a 3.7L Liberty and just had a new tranny put in it. Though he shifts by feel - and he's a trucker - a bad one. I hate that thing and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Horrid interior and I thought the ride was crap. It's a chick's Jeep.

We poked around at some 06's and 07's for about 10 to 12k last month. I have always had good luck with the jeeps. We let the nanny go back in June when I sold my business and hung around the house for the summer. Now I went back to work we're beggin her to come back.

We repo in either a Saab 900S Turbo, a Cadillac Catera(actually a rebadged German Opel Omega) or a Porsche 928S. It depends on mood/weather/time of year.

We never have keys, i just knock on the door and work my magic. Because i know how to talk to people i almost never have 'those tense situations'.

On the very rare occasion that someone doesn't surrender their keys, i have a wheel lift towtruck on 24/7 call who will come pick the vehicle up for me anywhere in the Phila metro area with 60 minutes from my call.
