Best Beer Bread

3 cups self-rising flour
2/3 cup sugar
12 oz. beer (room temp.)
favorite herbs (optional)

Mix together, pour into greased (or Pam sprayed) loaf pan. Bake @ 350 degrees for 55 minutes.

(sure, there are better recipes, but this one is so easy & foolproof.

Anything will do: basil, sage, marjoram, oregano, thyme, etc.

-OR- just bake it up w/o the herbs and dip it into a focaccia herbed dipping oil.

yummy!

That first recipe is how I have made beer bread since I was a kid with my grandmother. It is easy, foolproof, and tastes good. I generally use a simple pils or lager style beer, while my choice for drinking lends itself more toward a darker brew (stout or porter)
