I bought a new ranger many years ago, it was the first year of the 2.8 liter V6. Might have been 1986 or 87.
Talk about a POS. In 55,000 miles it had two intake manifold gaskets replaced, one oil pressure sender replaced, both catalytic convertors replaced, two fuel pumps replaced, and the fuel injection brain replaced twice. All by the dealer.
it was towed 4 times.
I could not wait to get rid of that POS. Worst vehicle I've ever owned or driven. I've hated ford ever since.

Damn, Sammy...sorry to hear that. I kid you not, our '99 XLT Ranger has performed flawlessly for 50,000 miles...we have the 4.0 V-6. Adequate power..going by memory here, but I think it would beat my old '70 911T in a drag race...Fords in my past..'50, '55, '60...all those used, with the typical used car problems, but no better or worse than Chevrolet.

I had a 1997 2.3 and a 2002 4.0 that both were great. I never did a single repair to either.

Wish I still had my 96 Explorer with the 4.0 V6, ran it to 100,000 with almost 0 problems. Had a Ranger prior to that, also a great vehicle.

Got the same kind of letter from Porsche when I owned the domain name " targa911S.com. They said they would forget the whole thing if I relinquished the domain to them. I was like..no problem.

All you need is some idiot "be inspired" to do something stupid based on what he read on the ranger site, then wind up maming himself or killing is buddy. Then, he will sue not only the ranger site, but also Ford.
Further: Ford has no say in that website, therefore folks can say whatever they want about the Ranger truck. That allows opportunities for folks to express things that may not necessarily be aligned with Ford's view of the truck, which may work against Ford's plans for the truck.

My $0.42,

Fair enough. And the demand for $5,000 is justified how? Maybe after a few cease and desist letters, but up front? Bullies.

Looks as if they've come to a resolution.

Per that link, it seems that there is a resolution that both sides agree upon.

Per the request on rangerstation, this thread is closed.
