Gifts for troubled economic times...
Just in the last week or so, the local news radio station has played commercials that suggest buying foods as Xmas presents. I.E., candy baskets, assorted nuts, fruits, etc. They call them "gifts for troubled economic times."
I don't know, but I've seen some fairly expensive fruit, nut and candy baskets in my day. Oh well, if the recipient is troubled - economically or otherwise - I imagine the expense of the gift basket is really a small afterthought. It's just strange sounding, I guess. A gift for troubled times as opposed to the iPod, the aftershave and cologne set, the piece of stereo equipment or the kids toy the kid will forget about in a day or so.

Donate to a charity in the person's name instead of a material gift.
