F1 Medal System !!!
So Bernie is trying to do away with the points system in favour of a medal system - gold, silver and bronze.
Whoever wins the most golds will win the championship. What a load of bollocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just can't see the rational in his thinking. He believes it will encourage more overtaking, because the only way to win the championship is to collect the most golds. I believe that race drivers at this level are so competitive, they will still want to win if it means 10 points or 1 gold medal. In theory you could have a driver win 2 races and then dnf the rest of the season win the championship if the next best reasult was 1 win and 9 seconds !!!!! Maybe just change the point system and make the separation of points between 1st and 2nd larger. |
I'd like to see the winner get a little more too, seems if you finish 1 or 2 it doesnt really matter. I think it would be interesting to award points for all finishing cars too. Rather than pack it in early, maybe a car would stay on track and add to the traffic and/or positioning late in a race.

It seems to me that Bernie looked at the last season and asked the question: "How could I have changed the scoring system so that Ferrari would have won?"
|
Oh, and this pretty much shuts out all but the top teams from scoring any kind of anything. Three quarters of the teams will have "no medals" for the entire season.

If you execute the last place driver for each race, there will be a lot more motivation at that end of the grid. Also, make the 2nd and third place drivers sing the winners' national anthem on the podium and grovel at his feet. And cane the rest of the drivers for being mediocre. Dayummm, I could be a big help to Bernie. :)

It really isn't going to matter once F1 is down to just three teams.
Maybe this will help speed the day when all of the big manufacturers finally give Bernie a collective "up yours" and start their own damn series. |
