Everyone knows grey cars get better gas mileage. Try doing this with a Guards Red 997. :)

i see 996's en 997's on the right lane every day... stuck in between trucks (that legally can't do more then 90kph)...embarrasing really...
Cayenne's still fly by as if i'm standing still at 140kh cruising speed, after their fly-by, i simply pick up speed and from a distance, they spot the camera flashes coming from the bushes for me...
They also generate a lot of drag, which then improves my fuel consumption..thankyouverymuch.
And then some say Cayennes aren't good for fuel economy... rubbish.

Niedzwiedz averaged 52 mph and 35.1 mpg (US). so what did it get ROW?

When I drove my 951 down to Austin to sell it, I pretty much drove the speed limit and was getting around 40 mpg.

My problem with that type of driving is that it would add 1.5 hours to my average trip back and forth to school. I would normally burn about 13 gallons of gas and hypermiling would take that down to 9 gallons burned. Even when gas was over $4 a gallon, that extra 1.5 hours would only save me $16 (now about $7). That just isn't worth it. I'll keep going for the shortest time on the road possible for the forseeable future.

Still is interesting though that they can squeeze that kind of mileage out of a 911.

The new cars get really good mpg in relation to HP/weight/performance. They are very aerodynamic and have very low drag from rolling resistance w/ 44 psi in the rear tires. My 996 is like a soap box derby car, I put it in neutral and I swear it speeds up sometimes. It rolls for blocks w/o slowing down much.

I'd love an '09 911S w/ direct injection and almost 400 hp. They just keep getting better, no one else has ever made a supercar that's a great daily driver. :cool:
