lulu is cool (my new book)

While not as cool as a "real" publishing deal (which are few and far between these days), lulu.com is pretty damn cool. I'd been meaning to try and publish a collection of free verse/poems that I've written over the past few years and finally just sat down and did it. With these damn interwebs you can do most anything...

http://stores.lulu.com/nostatic

Next is a mixed photo/verse book, then some multimedia versions (video/podcast). Yeah, I know...don't quit my day job. Luckily I don't have to

Your preface is spot on. I downloaded the collection (legally, I hope ).

I can't wait to read your "...somewhat twisted take on the language." That's the first attribute that makes poetry "poetry," IMO.

Poet! That was a nice little secrete, to me at least. Looks interesting, but why is the price in Euro? Are you planning a world wide marketing strategy?

I would like to buy a copy but only if I could get a signed copy from the author. You have any connections that might be able to swing that?

Lulu is my backup plan.

I'm currently shopping a finished sci fi novel to literary agents, but they are not at all receptive, since my last name isn't King or Koonz. Everyone who's read the manuscript (friends, etc.) said it was great and couldn't put it down. But agents are a little harder to impress.

I also have one finished non-fiction, and a biography in the works. I need an agent!

Nice. So, do you wear a beret and pound on bongos as you recite your poetry?

Tights and a baggy sweater will complete the ensemble.

not yet, but I do own a fez. The closest to the bongos and beret would be my alter ego:

http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=perilousRelish&view=videos

Though I might have to do the bongo thing for at least one of the video podcasts...

As for signed copies, I sleep with the author so I can hook you up. Livi, interesting that it comes up in euros - I guess that the site knows you're in the EU and adjusts accordingly. And yes, downloads are free on the site. Free, free, free...

How is the man you sleep with going to sign my free download? I'll send a check directly to the author, or pay electronically if I can figure out how to do it, if he promises to sign the book without any reference to fezes, bongos, or pretty much anything else that would be expected to pop up as a topic of conversation on the PPOTF.

So much for all my artistic license. Is this what it is like to be an artist in a police state? Help, help, I'm being repressed!

You ain't seen nothing, yet. Just wait until you see the violence inherent in the system.
