New shotgun for me!
I won a Knight muzzleloader at our local 'gun bash' several months ago and as i only hunt birds it was essentially useless. Called my local dealer (literally sells out of a large shed next to his house) and was shocked to learn that on trade this ugly thing was worth about $500!
So last night i finally got around to paying him a visit and swapping for something i might actually use once in a while. Took a look at a few single action cowboy guns and would've sprung for a Ruger Vaquero but he only had an Uberti available. The Ruger had a MUCH nicer action. Since he only trades on 'in stock' items i couldn't order the Tikka T3 hunter in .223 that i had been considering (cheap to shoot at paper and cans) so I grabbed a very slightly used one of these off the shelf: ![]() 20 ga., matte finish (i would have preferred the glossy but such is life) and that very cool english stock. My screen name of course comes from my strong belief that there is no better bird/clays autoloading shotgun on this planet than what Beretta makes but sometimes a little change is good...right? So I'm looking forward to busting a few clays with this soon and just maybe i'll get some duck time next week as well.

Sweet. If you want glossy, you could always sand and re-oil...

Browning Gold Upland Special is the proper name i believe. it is not a particularly light gun but the english stock gives it a different feel.
Targa i'd be thrilled to have an artisan refinish the stock but the receiver is a matte finish as well and it really wouldn't jive.

Thanks for the endorsement Paul. How's jack doing on the .410? I'm coming down your way in the spring for sure, and we'll shoot em up.

I'm not totally up on prices, but that seems like a good buy at $500!
And welcome to the world of Browning ![]()

Thanks all, i'm looking forward to busting a few appetizers and clays with this one. Curt i'm an equal opportunity gun owner and so long as it is a suitable bird or clays gun i believe one can never own too many!
Paul I spoke with Dave recently and I think he's gonna be one of those guys that is expensive to know! He's very much into double guns and chatting with him reminded me how much i've always wanted a nice double trigger sxs. Talking with him a bit more about balance and weight got me thinking i'd really like a 12 AND 20 since one might be a nice duck gun......hoy! If i didn't have this Porsche affliction keeping me near broke i'd be going double gun shopping with Paul on the phone right now!
