Home studio light kit
Merry Christmas all,
I am looking for a home photo studio lighting kit with a couple of lights, umbrellas and a travel bag. Looking to spend less than $300. Curious as to what style of light is best, wattage, type of umbrella (clear, white, black), brand etc. |
If you can squeeze a bit more money out try to get into a Speedotron set--they're tanks and will last forever. I checked ebay and here's a great pack if you can get it for close to the starting bid...
check out the brown line at the speedotron site. We use Speedotron at our studio and it's good stuff. You could do a lot with two heads and a soft box to start with. |
For no other reason than to get a photo woody, check out the Balcar site.

Go LED - cooler and far less power consumption.

I fumbled around with cheap lighting gear for a few years. I finally bought a decent AlienBees setup -- medium-sized softbox, mid-grade flash unit, a decent stand. It cost a little more than $300, but it was worth it. It works right, consistently.
