Need a new garage door opener, Any ideas?
My 22 year old craftsman 1/2 hp chain drive crapped out. No complaints here as it gave great service on a double door made of particle board. I am thinking of a screw drive as it may be quieter. Anybody have any suggestions. Please remember this is a big door. Once when the door spring broke I needed a floor jack to get the door up.

Another door opener thread, my old Crawford 1/3 HP chain drive just quit right before Xmas, I found a 9 month old Chamberlain 1/2 HP chain drive (same as Craftsman/Crawford) on Ebay for $60 bucks came with everything but the track. I used all my old stuff except the opener, remotes and the new style optic thingys which I rigged up on top of the motor.
