Whats a good printer to work with a laptop with windows
I bought a HP C4580 Photo Smart with a laptop mostly because it can run wireless. I did a search and found out it's really a pos. So, rather than fight with all of the problems, sleep issues, ip addresses, connectivity, paper jams, etc, I figure I will take it back and get something else. Hoping pelicans can help. Pelicans seem to help with most everything else (experts abound in most any subject). New printer to work with a new asus laptop with vista home.
As always thanks. Spencer |
The general consensus is inkjets suck.
Consumables are ridiculous. Find a laser. Initial toner cost is higher but generally lasts a lot longer than inkjet so is cheaper in the long run. |
I have a HP5180 which has a network card that is plugged into my router. It works great wirelessly and I have never had an issue. I also have a HP laser that I use for printing stuff I actually care about.
As stomachmonkey said the ink cartridges are rediculous and I find the laser provides much much higher quality print outs. |
I bought a Brother HQ1200 laser for $29.00 after rebate and it is really nice.

Samsung ML Laser- under $100. That and you need a mini print server as well- just a basic one, and plug it all together and there you go.
Pretty much anything labeled for "home office" use guarantees it's trash- ESPECIALLY HP product. The ML holds up to abuse- when I print documents they are around 60-100 PGS long.. Never, ever have a problem. HP is like the Sony of the office machine world- everyone thinks it's the best but it's trash. |
