Fidel's biography

I just finish to read Fidel's biography...What a man...and what a life. I learned a lot of things I don't knew....The fight for Cubans to get independance from USA is very interesting.....a big history than I loved to read. A very good book done by the famous Ignacio Ramonet.

Did the author bother with a chapter on the rationing, starvation and hordes of neighborhood spies? The complete lack of freedom of speech, the Isle of Pines torture camps, the complete destruction of the middle class, and on and on and on? Fidel is a crappy dictator, murdered thousands in the name of the revolution and will hopefully soon joint the pantheon of others of the same stripe, like Franco, Mussolini, Stalin, etc. Strung up by his heels in some Havana square, with a '53 Chevy pulling the rope.

Nope...but they talked about USA backed Batista corrupted alliance....and how the rebels kicked the ass out of the island this kind of supporters of democraty. It's just a good book to read....You'll learn that US were backing Pinochet (yes yes...the murderer) and how (hard) they try to keep Guatemala power in the hand of a military corrupted dictator. You already know that democraty has a sign of $ glued to it...No...?

You Canadians really don't get it. There was a song where the signature line was "You have to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything" really describes your lack of understanding of world events. You go ahead and just sit in your smug indifference to what is really going on in the world (much like France) and you will scream bloody murder when it caves in around you...when all along you could have made a stand.

And you still ask yourself why peoples launch aircrafts on buildings and why your flag is burned down every day on the planet...? Frigging Canadians that understand nothing....;)

interesting that you kiss a dictator's ass, and don't even have the sense to feel ashamed.

So they skim over all the people he is responsible for killing both directly and indirectly? If that's not an agenda, I don't know what is. The world will be a better place when he and his brother are dead.

Don't forget Canadians love to vacation in Cuba,, oblivious to the fact that the people there are suffering so they can enjoy the beaches and resturants

Shawn 357 12-28-2008 06:05 PM

Zef,
You seem like more of a fan of Castro than a lot of the Cubans I've met...

I don’t really want to dive into this ‘discussion’ about Cuba from posters that insist on repeating the same political dogma (or ingested & regurgitated propaganda?) except to point out that it is on the very same island that the US gov’t maintains it’s wonderful shining beacon of human rights: Guantanamo Bay.

Funny that . . .

RWebb 12-28-2008 08:24 PM

K. Roman 12-28-2008 08:38 PM

K. Roman 12-28-2008 09:11 PM

Yep, lots of Canadians go there for a warm vacation but just as many or more Europeans do as well.
How many of these warm vacation destinations can you think of that live in first world conditions? (With the exception of luxury resorts!)
I would think it would be interesting to know how your enemy is being portrayed.

All I'm saying is there are alot of other places to go that aren't under the arm of dictators and I wouldn't go there even if allowed...
