Read a European review. Apparently they were very pleased with the balance and overall driving feeling of it.

Don't think it's coming here. Side profile is a bit hondaish and price a bit of a bite. However, I would not kick it out of bed for eat'n crackers...
Owned 2 back in the day.

Actually, I liked the lines of the first version sirocco...wish I had a pic on file. Drop in a hopped up engine, have it's lighter weight help smoke the new one...

Ok what am I missing...when did VW start Twincharging their cars in Europe..impressive?!?!?

Quote from the article:
"This Twincharger powertrain (supercharger and turbo) from other VW models feels more alive in the Scirocco. Although 2800 lb. is not lightweight, it's still 100 lb. lighter than a GTI. "

The car is ugly and very uninspiring...this angle especially:

Now this is a "true" Scirocco, see how everyone in the pic is smiling, teardrops, 16valver, body colored everything, factory Recaros, yes please!!!

I saw one here in AZ with manufacturer plates on it a few weeks ago... nice car, better looking in person than I would have thought. Sucks that we're not getting them, I've always liked the Sciroccos.

I will take my 86 16V any day over that. Still pulling hard after 235,000 miles, has a 2.0 bubble block with Schrick cams and techtonics stainless exhaust, neuspeed suspension with adjustable shocks. Fun to drive and gets 30mpg.

Had a lot of Rabbits and Sciroccos back in the day. Not any more. When VW stops making cars in Mexico I'll consider buying one again. Until then, not a chance. The build quality is terrible.

it looks like just about any other econobox car with 2 doors and a hatch

Peugeot , Honda, Seat , whatever

And i just looked at the list price on the website...
Base model Scirocco, 1.4L 122hp 23.377 Euro's

Base model BMW 1 series Sports hatch, 1.6L 122hp 22,150.00
You'de have to be a complete moron to take the Scirocco over the Bimmer 1

Ain't no amount of retro naming will make it a more fun car then a RWD bimmer 1 of equal power...

There is an awfull dutch car show on tv in which they compared the scirocco against a 125i. On a wet track, the scirocco was faster and easier to drive. Both very nice cars imho.
