I'll be attending the Skip Barber school at the end of February and I need suggestions for the best, cost effective, place to stay. Thanks for the help!

Is that held at Road Atlanta or over at Barber in Birmingham?

If money weren't an issue, I'd tell you to book a reservation at Chateau Elan.

Since you were looking for something more "cost effective", I'd probably have to say, try the Holiday Inn Express, or maybe the Best Western - Braselton, GA.

I haven't stayed at any of them, but if you want to do a search on your own, try lodging, in Braselton, GA.

I agree.

You should stay on the east side of Road Atlanta. The west side takes you into the town of Oakwood which has some really nasty rooms. You will also be hassled by some nasty prostitutes. On the other side of Oakwood is Gainsville, GA. They have some nice rooms but the drive is long.

Braselton is about 5 mintes from the track.

Good luck. Don't hit anything at the bottom of the hill in T-12.

We usually stay at the Holiday inn express now, but i have stayed at the Comfort Inn in Oakwood countless times before the HIE opened. Its closer to all the eateries, and have never had/heard of any problems with any 'prostitutes' etc..

I am just repeating information that I heard about when racing in the HSR Mitty in May and the SVRA Road Atlanta event last October. The guys said that women would approach them when they started walking up to their room after dinner. They complained to management, but the managers just mentioned that the massive highway construction that was being done on Hwy 53 had attracted many services to construction workers.

It was second hand information. I always stay at the track during race weekends. We usually cook and eat at the track.

There's a Country Inn and Suites in Oakwood that we usually stay at. Nice rooms, etc. Many people stay at the Comfort Inn in Oakwood. Older place but OK. I've not stayed there in years.

Oakwood is not far from the track - maybe 8 minutes or so.
