Follow up to my need good thoughts thread

To all of you that read my other thread you know about me and my wife being canned by the new governor and the slanderous article that came out about me in the paper yesterday evening.

Well, first thing this morning (Saturday) a partner at a local law firm called me up. He read the article and told me the only thing he got out of it is that I am available for work. He, and his firm, practically begged me to come to work for them. I told him I need to give some thought to my future and what I want to do. He then asked if I would work for them on a temporary basis. We discussed $$$. I start with them first thing Monday morning! There goes my vacation. :D

Oh, and my wife has an interview for a job on Tuesday!

Thanks to all of you that responded on my other thread or even just read it. It really meant a lot to me.SmileWavy

Wow. Congrats!

A quote that has stuck with me ever since a construction company I was working for went under:

"Dan, if you're truely good at what you do, you will never be hurting for work"

Sure enough, as all my buddies were headed to the unemployment office, my phone rang from a guy who heard I was available, and would I please work for him.

Damn! I shouldn't have thought any good thoughts for you so you'd at least have a week or two to chill out before resuming the daily grind. Sorry about that!!! :p

I read the other thread kind of late, then found and read the media story and the underlying report.

After that I thought to myself that, assuming most people know how politics works in your city, the smear was a transparent hatchet piece that wouldn't have legs anyway given the lack of any actual findings.

I also thought that, if you have enough of a reputation and experience and stature in the local legal community that the new DA sees you as a threat, then you shouldn't have much trouble finding work.

I was going to put all this in a PM to you, but your good news trumped that. Congratulations.

Maybe you should consider running for DA someday. Not for revenge - bad motivation - but if its something you want to do.

Well, sonofa#$%^&!!!! That's great news, Kurt.

I didn't officially post my good thoughts message here but I had told a couple of people in similar situations about "this guy on my car forum".

It musta counted for something.:D

Good luck,my friend, to you and your wife.

masraum 01-10-2009 08:02 AM

Outstanding!!! That's fantastic news. You should thank the guy that instigated the slanderous article. That would really get his goat.
