Something to do in Ventura, CA
I have the need to visit someone who is a bit down, and Ventura is half way between us.
Does anyone know Ventura well - or the surrounding area? I'm thinking of anything live music/car/outdoors related over the next few months. TIA David

Go to Silverstrand Beach. Get off at Victoria Avenue and head west until you can't drive anymore.

Yes, let me check. It moved from the location on the coast. It is Oxnard now, if it is still open.

Here is the link to Jim Hall.
http://jimhallkartracing.com/ They did move into Oxnard off of 5th Street. It is easy to get too off the 101 and I believe it is Rice or Rose Avenue to 5th.

Thanks guys that's awesome - esp. the Ventura County Star. I was looking for something like that but couldn't find anything good.
We lost our brother (his twin) in April and we need to get together more often. And his weekend car is a used M3 convertible...

David, A bit further north at Santa Barbara and up towards Lake Casitas is Cold Springs Tavern. Here's a link, http://www.coldspringtavern.com/entertainment.html forget the "romantic getaway" part, Saturdays and Sundays it's a great place to listen to live music in the afternoon while sipping a beer. Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan are not to be missed and they're playing Sun. 1/25.

I love Cold Springs - just trying to keep it a little south of there - but a great idea nonetheless.

Craigster,
Cold Springs Rocks! Sorry to hear about your brother, very sorry. What do the Ventura Pelicans think about Winchesters on Main in Ventura? I haven't been there for awhile but it sure was fun when I was there.

Winchesters is still pretty decent. There's also Jonathans, The Watermark, etc are on Main St. as well. There are usually concerts at the Ventura Theater.
What are you looking to do?

hmmm, haven't been to town for a bit (ex Oxnard boy here) but I do think that Ojai, and SB are a bit better to find things to do. There is the cross up on the hill but that's a dating thing to do.
I used to love to hang out at the coffee shops on State street in SB. lolo, even sat next to Molly Ringwald and others. The putt putt course in town has gone down hill big time ![]() If the sushi shop is still in Montecito and hasn't gone south in quality, I'd definitely say stop buy and enjoy some of the best sushi in SB!!!

Agoura Hills at Kanan road has the Canyon Club. Acts vary, lots of older rock bands and some tribute bands.
