Pelican Parts BMW Decal Design Contest

Hello folks,
We were about to order thousands more of the Pelican Parts BMW decal, but I figured we should take this opportunity to see if we can come up with something new and better. We've played around with a few designs, but nothing knocks our socks off.

This is the current decal

We send these out with all the BMW orders.

So all of you designers and would-be-designers out there, help us out and create the new Pelican Parts BMW sticker! Make a scan of your design, or if you don't have a scanner, take a digital pic. You can attach the graphic to this thread or email it to me: scott@pelicanparts.com

The requirements:
Dimensions are 5" wide by 3" tall
We can't use a roundel
It should say Pelican Parts, show the URL, and the bird

Thank you for participating in the contest!

PS - let's keep the contest going until the end of December (edit)

Try this one:

The eps file posted previously should not have a white background if opened in a vector-based program, but the png file above should be editable in any raster-based program.

Nice work, varmint....why not put the roundel in blue & white in the background circle on the top one?

Aurel,
A design like that would definitely be cool, but BMW protects that roundel like Porsche protects the crest.

Well, hell. Just make the bottom half blue and the top half white. Tell 'em its a pelican flying over the ocean on a cloudy day.

BTW, Scott/Wayne....you have a roundel in the current sticker. See the wheel center.

Just a thought, wasn't the Roundel suppose to symbolize something? If so, an artist like Varmint could probably try to symbolize the same thing, WITH the same colors and it would probably get the point across. Just an idea...

The circular blue and white BMW logo or roundel is often alleged to portray the movement of an airplane propeller, an interpretation that BMW adopted for convenience in 1929, which was actually twelve years after the roundel was created.[4][5] In fact, the emblem evolved from the circular Rapp Motorenwerke company logo, from which the BMW company grew. The Rapp logo was combined with the blue and white colors of the flag of Bavaria to produce the BMW roundel so familiar today. The early success of the outstanding BMW IIIa inline-six aviation engine, from 1917-18 in World War I, with the Luftstreitkräfte in a limited number of Fokker D.VII fighters, as well as a number of prototype "inline-six" fighters from various manufacturers, might have actually influenced the BMW logo's design.
