Coca-Cola, can vs. plastic? poll.
Which do you prefer? I prefer can. The plastic never seems carbonated enough, and isn't as cold. What do you think?
I go for can. Cheaper and it has less. That way I don't spend as much and I am not 'forced' to drink more sugar water. Really, when would I need to drink 500ml of coke, that's just too much. If I am thirsty I should be drinking water.
I wonder which one is better for the enrivonment? What it takes to mine, create, and recycle. |
Aluminum can is FAR better for the environment than plastic
Aluminum takes an incredible amount more energy to mine, refine and make new than to recycle. Glass is about equal, making new vs. recycling. Plastic really cannot be recycled, it mainly goes to landfills :( I prefer can, also, from the standpoint of consumption. |
Can tastes different. and better.
generally prefer the can. riding around with the cold aluminum resting between your legs really helps on a hot summer day.
out here i can get bottles ofthe mexican coke, where they still use real sugar. well worth the time t find. |
The plastic will allow fizz seep over time. Glass bottles were/are the best of all for taste.
afwiw I drink Cdn Coke & have had European & Chinese Coke. The US recipe is the best imho. Ian |
CocaCola in the US is made with high fructose corn syrup and tastes like poop. In Mexico, you get Coke in glass bottles made with cane sugar. Entirely different. Tastes the way it should.
Can and cold... that first sip is just something special...
+1 Glass bottled Coke
ok..i like can coke. i like those tiny half sized cans, because you drink less sugar.
same reason i like the tiny snickers bars. |
Yeah, but you eat more of them
Just to make you all feel bad, I can still get Cokes from Mexico down here that are still in the glass bottles... to top that off, they are still made with sugar instead of corn syrup... Yep, just like the good ol days.....
It doesn't matter if you add enough Jack.
What part of the state are you in?
I actually prefer glass when I have a choice. Can would be my second, plastic last. Some
stores here sell the 7oz glass bottle.... for $1.00 !!!! when it is icy cold, it is really good. |
Glass > Aluminum > Plastic > Fountain
Rio Grande Valley / South Padre....
Cans.
The only thing going for the plastic bottles is the re-sealable factor. Oh, and regarding the Mexican glass-bottled (sugar cane) Coke: The local Costco here always has pallets of the stuff, but it is much more expensive than the regular version. |
you can buy the mexican coke at any mexian grocery store.
the bottles always look refilled. i hope they wash them. i like that tamarind soda also. |
