Try it. I like it better than MS. It plays everything - even flv files.

YUP, I downloaded VLC 15 minutes ago and its playing my concert....oh god my head hurts...i feel like an old geezer trying to use an ipod for the first time...damn, setting this up without READING and learning first is a bit tough...thanks guys

Ok, just so you now understand, you use the bit torrent program to d/l files which you can get from a number of places, i use btjunkie. Once its d/led then you close the program, or leave it open for others to seed off of you, which is the whole point of the program. Not too nice to get something and then log off. Then open up your media player and watch/ listen to it there. Clear as mud? ;)

yes. got it....its the lack of familiarity with the vocabulary that had me in a serious fog and panic
now, i can convert my flac files to MP3 somehow so i can distribute the music to friends so they can use their itunes to play em? |
in case anyone else is stumped...what i did was
1) after the file downloaded in bit torrent software, i RIGHT CLICKED on the file while still in the software, and selected "Open Containing Folder" and saw all the files (songs) presented in a new pop up window. I selected ALL and dragged them to a new folder i created on the desktop. Once they were in there, I clicked on one of them and my newly downloaded VLC played started playing them in order, immediately... not very intuitive i might add |
dbpoweramp is a good conversion program...its what i use to convert flac and shorten files to mp3 for use on my ipod
