Saw a remarkably cool VW Bus today in San Diego - Thom?
I was just looking through the "before and after" thread and came across this pic of Thom's (widebody911) garage:
![]() That bus looks amazingly similar to an extraordinary bus I saw this afternoon, headed north on the 5 around Via de la Valle in North County San Diego. Was this you, Thom? ![]() ![]() My 10 yo Daughter and I were both impressed and she took the side-view pic! Best, |

I saw him in his ghia at the corner of Walnut and El Camino a few days ago, pretty sure that was him anyway, that is a pretty sweet 21 window there, or 28, or whatever it is

I won't speak for Thom, but his 23 window isn't in as good of shape as that one yet. Seeing his past work, it will be though.

Does anyone know what year this is? I would guess it's a very early model.

Old buses are pretty cool.
I had a '61 crew cab. Nice to see you posting, Kurt. KT

I wish that was my bus! That's what's known as a 'barndoor' - note the difference in the engine lid compared to mine. The bus you saw is pre March-55
I used to have one like that, but mine was right-hand drive
