Guys, I'm beginning to feel like "Hitler" in that crazy scripted video...right now, just haven't felt much like looking. Auto show up in Portland, and I decided I'd rather watch a pool tournament in live streaming video instead. Glad I did...saw some really great play by some world class players.

Always cars for sale, right?

porsche4life 02-07-2009 11:23 PM

Yes there are but I get the feeling you are being a touch too picky Paul... Whats stopping you from buying a G8 or a GTO or a 'vette or something like that? You dont have to keep it forever just till you tire of it.

A touch too picky...or perhaps just not caring that much right now. Still adjusting to the diabetic diagnosis, trying to get my body stable...when you feel generally lousy, this affects your thinking as well...Not a good time for me to make a car buying decision.

No law against having cash around, right?

270 hp 4 wheel drive. Don't knock it till you've tried it.

The Toyota Supra and MR2 were both quite sporty.

artplumber 02-08-2009 01:01 PM

Is he back to considering not new cars?

If you're really considering a 90's Supra, the RX7 TT in R1 is a pretty sweet drive, and I'm betting you have a Mazda dealer close. Don't even have to tweak it from stock. Can park it anywhere. They just use a little bit of oil.

RWebb 02-08-2009 01:12 PM

if you keep that cash around too long, then it will take more of it to buy a car with...

I'd make a buy in '09 sometime...

I would stay far, far away from a dealer with a 93-95 FD.

Unless said FD had an LT1 converison......

That's news. I know they had their probs (which should be worked out by now), but are dealerships clueless?

I thought we're talking current models. I'll stand behind Dottore's Toyota assessment. Yeah, that Matrix sure is sporty - http://www.toyota.com/cars/

And gravity can be fun. For awhile.

Or, a '09 will be much cheaper in a couple of years...;) Randy, the "cash" is working...worry not.
(edit) Randy, you're sounding like a car salesman..."You gotta buy now 'cause you just gotta buy now!

Hey Paul;

Shanelle is on Spike TV tonight here in the east - I believe at 8:00pm

That ought to get your engine going.

Thanks for the heads up, John. I'll bet you're tuning in as well!

boy - there's a hated profession.

it just seems that the depths of a depression is a good time to buy

and we know that sports car prices are depressed in mid-winter

Yes.

Problem is that very few dealers had (good) rotary techs that were well versed in the complexities of the sequential turbo setup. Don't know if this has improved with the advent of the RX8, but when I was hunting a couple years ago for one, "avoid the dealer" came up several times when fielding advice. Jim8675309 could probably had more to the FD discussion.

Depths of a depression? We ain't seen nothing yet!

Local GM stealership has a Z-06 on it's floor. Now that it's the 2nd 'Vette in the pecking order, I wonder how desperate they really are? Naw...just can't think that would be it...

John? Shanelle not on Spike TV until 9 Pacific time...I'll be there! :)

Is that JimC's moniker now? The RX 8 is normally aspirated, no?

Paul, why not go for a ZR1?
