I took the scenic route to being a conservative/libertarian. Let's just say that a lot of my views are based on direct experience and observation.

I'd be happy to discuss this in a PARF thread, but let's not go into it here.

no such problems around these parts... the only problem is the bloody mad thc content, bloody dutch over engineer the plants to the point where one good draw is enough to get anybody who ain't a serious pothead, seriously stoned

Got spoiled on the movie thing when I had a job in a theater and went for free. Quit downhill skiing when it got to the ridiculously expensive level. Fortunately I enjoy inexpensive activities

I think my last concert cured me. I was pretty excited to see one of my favorite artists (who will remain nameless) in a great local venue (not very big, good acoustics). He shows up and horses around a little and strums along on a couple of songs. No name guitarists doing the heavy lifting. That's it! I guess he just wanted to collect a paycheck. Very disappointing and a big waste of cash.

I still have the ticket stub from my first Van Halen show in 1986 for $17.50. I don't go to movies anymore. I just refuse to pay what they charge. My wife gets half price movie passes from her job and so I'll go when she really wants to see something. But that's maybe 2-3 times per year and I don't pay for anything other than maybe popcorn. We bring stuff in her purse. For certain bands, I will pay whatever it costs. When Rush is on tour, I catch 6-10 shows and am happy to pay for the best seats, though I always score last minute seats in the parking lot for a fraction of what the vendors charge days before. I think I had 9th row in Alburquerque in April for $50 each and bought them in the parking lot. It's been a while since I paid over face value for any concert tix.
