American idol contestants who can't sing

Someone please tell me what motivates these people to audition. To look like a gigantic tone deaf ass on national TV?

The most amusing part is when they get all belligerant after being told that -obviously- they have NO voice at all. LOL, it boggles the mind.

They want to get on TV. They know that if they make a stink in the audition or act like a jacka$$, they have a better chance of getting on the first episode or two of the show. It's their 15 seconds of fame.

Of course, you could always sing really well and do a great job, but that would require . . . . effort . . . and talent.

I hate American Idol, except for those first few episodes of entertaining morons.

My favorites in order:

- The poor bast@rd who's family told him to "go for it, you're great!". This type always gets beligerent once confronted with their pitiful singing.
- The tone deaf - the look of shock on their face when they are told the stink is priceless.
- The unstable - They give it all they got and start giving the crazy-azz stink-eye I'm gonna blow when they hear the bad news.
- The attention whores - just wanna be on TV.

I think they are unstable or unwell. I used to laugh, but after a while it doesn't sit very well with me. It's starting to seem a bit exploitative

I can't even bring myself to watch the program. It is an insult to the intelligence of a normal person.

I honestly never understood this mindset, but this is America.

I think it's great, but i only pay attention when they get down to like the last 12 or so. I can't stand the early episodes because of the train wreck factor. I agree that some of the early contestants are 'unwell'.

A lot of people...especially in this country want to be STARS and are willing to do anything to be STARS! typically this sort usually overestimates his/her ability and talent....and if they look good, they tend to flaunt that aspect of their body to try and overcome the lack of talent.

Even the ones that can sing well want to be STARS...

And that is why I have never gotten in to that show. The desire for these artists to be STARS (and the accompanying vocal histeronics "aaahhhhheeeeeyyyyeeee....wiiilllll allllwwyyaaaasssss...loooovveee.....yeeeeoooouuooo ouou.ooouooooo!") is anti-art imo...as a musician and writer i despise that because it doesnt come from the HEART, it comes from the EGO

Show business and view ratings. For some reason homo sapience thrive on watching other people getting humiliated and emotionally damaged. I also think there is a part of us that like to see people who thought they were special/talented and better than us, fail. Preferably in a degrading and embarrassing manner with a big audience.

Personally I think the show is disgusting.

But it makes you wonder about the future if are youth is this messed up. Of course our parents said that about us. Come to think about it, maybe our parents were right....

I liked the terrible chick that also happened to have a 10 Body who wore a bathing suit to the audition and made it through. AMERICA!!!! Wooooooo!!!!!!

+1 Same as the white, black, spanish trailer trash that goes on the Jerry Springer show. 15 minutes of shame. They get pampered, make-up artists making them look 'good', nice cloths, and they can scream at their significant trailer trash other.
But I suppose it beats going back to the trailer

Hmm...some of them are fantastically talented and become huge stars.

I'm not sure what's disgusting about giving regular people the shot they might never otherwise get.
