annoying automated phone calls from Toyota

Has anyone else been plagued by automated phone calls trying to sell extended warranties for a Toyota vehicle? I have, I get one almost every day lately at work or on my cell phone. My wife has been getting them too. I called Toyota north America and they said it was probably the dealer who sold the phone numbers. I said I don't care who did it, the phone calls better stop. They said they would do what they can. Then I fired off an e-mail to their public relations department. Idiots. My wife was looking at a Toyota highlander a couple months ago, but she ended up getting new Nissan Murano instead. She told me that decision was partly because she was still pissed at Toyota for selling her phone numbers. I'll probably be getting a new truck in another couple of years, and it won't be a Toyota if these phone calls don't stop. Why do companies allow marketing idiots to screw their customers? Are they really that stupid? How many vehicle sales are they willing to sacrifice so some pinhead marketing moron can make a few bucks? This is the type of sleazy activity I'd expect from ford, not Toyota.

There are a lot of ( third party) companies out there that are cold calling for extended warranties. They are banking on the fact that people are gullible. Last night I even saw a company advertisement on T.V.

Often the calls come from a different state! The automated message never changes but the number they are calling from does. At the end of the message they even give me an option of opting out from getting any more phone calls, guess what? That doesn't work. Prolly the only thing it does is let them know they have a live fish on the line.
