I have the motion activated sprinkler posted above. Works good if you remember to leave it on. I have to turn it off to feed them and sometimes forget to turn it back on. My problem was a heron and still comes by occasionally but the water does scare him off. Have read that they also like to eat alone so they will not go where another heron already is. So a good decoy should help as well. Only time it does not work is during mating season but they apparently do not eat then.

Good luck they are a pain and love goldfish just as much

a co worker had a pit bull named frito. she was a very happy.stupid dog. jumped a neighbors fence one night and ate three thousand dollars worth of koi.

ian had to sell a bike to settle with the owners.

is there any way you could stretch netting or fishing line across the bird's flight path?

I think the claymore is a little overkill. I think I am going to try that sprinkler thing. Thanks for all the different ideas. You say Frito "was" a happy stupid dog.

Hahaha, i don't think your neighbors would appreciate a stream of 20mm cannon fire coming from your yard! :-P

I DID see something online where they designed automated sentry guns but using paintball or airsoft guns. They were WAY cool. You can look em up on you tube.

Here ya go:

At the end of the vid the sentry takes on moving cars too. Very cool.
