PCA Membership - Did you renew or not?

Just curious.

Why did you renew?

Why did you not renew?

Zeke 01-23-2009 03:59 PM

I'm in, I have no idea why.

Dixie 01-23-2009 04:07 PM

I'm a member.

Why? Because the Carolinas Region has at least 4 DEs and one club race each year. Plus, the PCA track dogs show up at most events sponsored in the area.

Now, if I wasn't into track events? I'd sell the Porsche, buy a Corvette, and go to a car show each weekend. SmileWavy

i will in May when my membership is up....DE's are my reason. other clubs DE days honor PCA membership

Paul K 01-23-2009 04:14 PM

I renewed.

I attend Arrive & Drive events every month in the summer, and plan to attend the Parade this year in Colorado.

flatsixnut 01-23-2009 04:18 PM

I did not renew this time around because I got a notice stating that I would recieve another notice in a couple more months...but I never got that one. So I kinda let it slip. I can honestly say that the only time Iwas able to use any PCA perk was when I parked at Rennlist Reunion III.

Noah930 01-23-2009 04:24 PM

Nope. I think the only thing the LA chapter does is have a monthly brunch at Santa Monica airport.

I've been a member for close to 20 years. I was active the first 5 or so, but haven't done anything for at least 10 years. I'm not sure why I renew, I guess out of habit. Certainly not for the Panorama magazine, which is basically (1) an advertising/propaganda vehicle for PCNA, and (2) a print version of the film Groundhog Day.

I just renewed. The Redwood region is great, lots of autocrosses, breakfast runs, DE events at Infinion race track, tech session at the local Porsche shops, weekend driving trips.

Our region includes Napa and Sonoma counties and several of our members are in the winery business, so we have some awesome winery tours and tastings.

I have to admit that I have made some great friends as a result of the club.

I did the Parade in San Diego and plan on going to Colorado. I'm sure we'll have at least a dozen Redwood members caravan to CO.

mede8er 01-23-2009 04:36 PM

Yep....AX and DE's.....

NY65912 01-23-2009 04:40 PM

In. DE's.

exc911ence 01-23-2009 04:44 PM

Renewed here too.

carlosR 01-23-2009 04:48 PM

I'm a new Porsche owner and thought I'd join to meet other Pcar nutz.

gtc 01-23-2009 04:53 PM

I joined last year. I'll probably renew - I haven't done the DE's yet, but my dad loves reading the magazines.

Joe Bob 01-23-2009 04:55 PM

I run the AX and I go to the breakfast. I wish my kids would go with me...at least one. I'm usually the youngest one there with the least clean ride.....

t951 01-23-2009 05:02 PM

I didn't bother. I never got any real value out of it. I know that it is my fault for not pursuing it, but when I went to a couple of meetings it was mostly older folks with newer model cars that liked to talk about washing it, or how the dealer changes their oil. Just not for me....

boxster03 01-23-2009 05:09 PM

every chapter is different. If for example you are close to Santa Barbara, ca check their club out it is well worth the membership. they do a fantastic job and organize tons of events and there are some great cars in the club. if you have an inactive club or small club or one that goes dormant because of weather you might find it a WOT.

4flyboy 01-23-2009 05:12 PM

I didn't renew because the magazine seemed to reflect the newer cars and older guys. I started flipping through the magazine and hardly gave it 1/10 th interest that Excellence gets.

Yeah...us in SB do have a nice time. The Zone 8 rep actually beeyotched that we had too many events. Screw em.....c'mon up and see us. See our site at http://www.pcasb.org/main/

wholberg 01-23-2009 05:14 PM

Believe it or not, I stay in the PCA because I like the people in the Carolinas PCA and enjoy going to the meetings. The people are friendly, welcoming, and informal.
