Our Turn!
It's our turn for winter weather. We have 4 inches of sleet, it's turning into freezing rain right now (10 p.m.), and then snow later tonight they think. They don't know for sure since the freezing rain has knocked out the weather radars in Paducah Ky, and Evansville Ind.
I hope the escapees are bundled up :D |
We've had a few inches of snow on top the 4 inches of sleet last night, looks like it will end up being about 8 inches deep when it's done tonight.
I live on the main street here in Rolla, MO and am currently watching some wonderful hoonery happening with some fraternity blokes, a sled, and a car, happening outside my window. |
It's going to be 63 tomorrow! BURRRRRR!

i got away from northern weather this past year.......i'm really enjoying wearing shorts in the middle of january......it was 81 today :D

INCHES of sleet? Jeezus, that would be a bee-atch. Hopefully it melts quickly.
|
We lucked out this time.
All of the heavy snow went north, and all of the sleet went south. I woke up to 1" of snow and 11º this morning. |
We didn't have nearly that much, but it was still enough to close the schools, thus giving me a mandatory day off with pay. :) I wonder if I'll go with beer or wine today...? :D

4 inches of sleet, a half inch of ice, and 4 inches of snow on top of that, and my Jeep is stuck at the end of the driveway. Time to go dig it out (pray I don't have a heart attack!). |

Fortunately, when I came back from Florida it was all gone. Now we have about 6" of accumulated snow on the ground and only ¼" of ice underneath it. It seems like this winter we have consistently gotten snow every 2-3 days, and sleet/freezing rain every other week. |
woke up to 3/4 inches of snow. slogged my way into the office where its raining...wierd.

D/FW is shut down for the most part. Freezing rain in the evening yesterday and sleet until 3am today. Ice accumulation is near .25", temp was 18º this morning, but has warmed to a scorching 23º. Most Texans don't know how to drive in this stuff. The insurance companies will be really busy for a few days, no doubt. There were nearly 500 wrecks reported in Fort Worth alone by 4am, and that's on the rise for sure. People are stuck everywhere.
Last night a man was stranded on a bridge, so he got out of his car and started walking. He slipped and fell over the bridge railing to his death 50 feet below. It's awful. Be careful out there guys and gals. |
