How many people have a sauna? Any Finn's out there?

Being 50% Finn (my father 100%) it was manditory around our house and my grandparents home. Anyway I just got out of ours, drinking a cold beer and then down for the night, 10 degrees out!

I've got one, in my gym in my basement. Very nice after my workout. Its by "finnelo" or however you spell it. I use eucalyptus in the water to help clear my sinuses. But for the most part its a key element in my training.

Sauna, beer and quick jumps into winter cold sea water puts hair on a mans chest. Viking stile. Very common in Sweden (I have been told..). :D

You're talking about infrared I think, when I purchased mine I had a look at both. The traditional steam/rock heater was much better imo.

I'm 1/4 Finn. Father has an awesome sauna in his basement. Big welded steel stove with rocks. Awesome. I'm afraid I don't have any photos.

Eric, that is fantastic feeling getting out of sauna and jumping into snow or ice cold watter- AGREE.
what I don't agree is BEER after sauna.
We use to spray beer on a rocks to lift a heat in sauna. And for a drinking - shots of VODKA or home made Moonshine (75proof) .

A highlight of my trip to the relatives in northern Sweden, near Umea, was the little cabin on the Bothnia Sea. My cousin had a sauna just steps from the sea.

When I was a boy, we used to go to a cabin on Lake Margrethe, just outside Grayling, MI. The Northwoods. There was a wood fired Sauna, a tiny building right by the lake. In the winter, we would walk outside stark naked and jump in the snow. It was good for the soul!
