Not even Steve Martin can help SNL
Absolutely horrible. G'night.
|
We watched it 2 weeks ago, and were stunned at how bad it was. Seth Meyers is tanking completely.
NBC SNL 911, ASAP! |
I stopped watching regularly when Phil Hartman left.
|
IMHO, Steve Martin has always been the unfunniest comedian on TV. He's not bad in a supporting role, but solo, he sucks. When I hear "even Steve Martin can't help SNL", it's like hearing, "even gasoline can't put out that fire."
I stopped watching when Belushi left. |
I miss John Belushi...

In the 70s and 80s this show was the stuff of legend. |
I just record it and FF through the high percentage of junk. There's still some stuff in there that's as funny or funnier than it ever was. That cast has excellent talent when they have good material.
Jizzed in my pants |
The only comedian less funny than Steve Martin is Robin Williams.
|
SNL was never that funny. That is unless you find Jon Stewart funny.

And I find Al Franken to be the unfuniest comic ever. Lewis Black is a close second. |
I never found SNL to be funny...EVER....NEVER..
Will Ferrell and the other guy who played Gore were good...but the rest well lets just say...smarmy.. |

SNL peaked with Hartman, Farley, Spade, and Sandler IMO (or prior to, with Dennis Miller at the updated desk). I would still watch the newer ones just for the Update segment, but with Tina Fey now gone, why bother... |
You guys are nuts. Jon Stewart is a legend at this point.

So you guy don't think..
"The Jerk" is a funny movie? |
Chevy Chase was brilliant on SNL nightly news alongside Jane "you dirty whore" Curtain.
Haha, i think i'll go track down some Utube clips. |

"Jane you ignorant slut" I think the first time it was foisted on Jane Curtain, and the SNL audience it was kind of shocking. Not sure if her reaction was genuine.. Perhaps in subsequent episodes it morphed into "dirty whore" |
Taco Town :D.

I think Lewis Black can be insanely funny.
SNL in the 70's had great moments but also duds. The show has always been that way. Even the best casts had bad skits in every single show. Nature of the beast. At some point though people got really lazy and they quit learning lines. That just makes it worse... |
Did it ever occur to you guys that we just don't do the drugs we used to when watching SNL ?

Maybe SNL will go away. That'd be a shame....
They jumped the shark when they started trying to manipulate elections. Now they can suffocate in their own excrement AFAIC. |
Tina Fey's, "Palin" routine was beyond brilliant!! Never was one so perfect in looks, voice, facial gestures and body language. I figured her nationally recognized performace as Palin took poor ole Sarah down a few notches in the polls before it was all over. She did a great job showing Sarah a true ditz! This was only matched when Dan Akroid played Carter. With that, indeed SNL has its ups and downs, but will never be the same as when Akroid, Belushi and Martin ruled in the 70's.
