The biggest missed call in the game.

At 20 seconds you can see an obvious two handed illegal block in the back as Hightower is about to tackle Harrison. I understand that calls get missed all the time but this not only got missed by the officials but it got no mention in broadcast. It was right in front of the runner, it was obvious. Freeze it at 20sec.

Wow, I did not notice that during the game, but that was blatant.

Exactly, the broadcast played it what 25 times and never even commented on it. At my place we all saw it and assumed that was what the flag was for...but no :D

I was focused on the guys behind Harrison, I didn't notice that out front. But it is absurd to think that the refs missed that, along with Michaels and Madden

Once again, the Stealers take a game. That non-call, then the "roughing the passer" that was a screamer of a joke and the "knocking down the holder" penalty that couldn't have been more feeble.

If your team is named after a bird, and you're playing the Stealers in the Superbowl, you're screwed. That's all there is to it.

I agree there is definitely a bias.

There's so much going on on the field on each play, a penalty could be called on almost any given play, it seems pretty easy for the refs to "engineer" a close game.

It is what it is...quit whining. We won and that's that.

There's always room for analysis and discussion. The Steelers catching breaks and calls in the Playoffs is becoming tradition. They won, yes but that's not the whole story once again.

DaveE 02-02-2009 07:04 AM

We should research how many holding calls WEREN'T called on the guy 'blocking' Harrison.

Rob G 02-02-2009 07:25 AM

Guys and Gals, It happens in ALL games. They just missed a call. How many times a year does this happen. It has nothing to do with Steelers. Quit http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/bawling.gif

By the way. GO PITT!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/blah.gif

A concession that you can't defend the indefensible. "ummm... nothing to see here, move along. Please don't apply analysis to this, it will not withstand scrutiny."

"Quit crying" = "Don't analyze". After all, it "happens all the time", so what's the point?

Oh, to live a life of such "detachment"...!

Come on JP. You know it happens to every team in the NFL All the time. Ever week in the regular season. A hold hear and push there. (ITS Football). And if you look at the video one more time closely, the original contact was made to his shoulder not his back. That my friend is a legal hit. Warrner threw a ball that he shouldn't have and he paid for it.

Taz's Master 02-02-2009 08:36 AM

You are adding your bias to the play calling. Watch the play again, Fitzgerald runs down the field out of bounds, and then comes back in to make the tackle, he wasn't behind the play, he was in it, and the call wasn't made.

The refs didn't decide the game, both the Steelers and the Cards had opportunities to win. Blaming the refs when Warner threw the int, and later had the lead (with less than 3 min left to play) makes you sound like a crybaby. The Steelers' 6 Lombardis stem more from the Rooneys' leadership and the fact that they have had 3 head coaches since 1969 than favorable officiating.

You want to hear crying about officiating: In the Steelers' only Super Bowl loss, the Cowboys' 1st points came from a designed illegal play, they set a pick on the guy defending the receiver who caught the pass. It was intentional cheating that the refs should have seen, and cost the Steelers 7 points. But again, officiating didn't decide that game, it was those 2 interceptions.
