Who wears contacts?

It's time to fill a new prescription for my wife's contact lenses. I wonder about getting them on line. If you've used an internet contact supplier I would like to hear your recommendation. Yea or nay?

I've heard 1-800-contacts its pretty good but I order my at Costco. They have my prescription on file so I just call them up. $10 to ship.

It's nearly impossible to beat costco on prices...

contactlensking.com has pretty good prices. I typically get mine from them usually because costco does not carry the ones I use.

That's where I got my last set from...

I normally get mine from my optometrist. Their prices is normally within a few dollars of the cheapest online seller.

+1 on getting them from my local optometrist. They are small and give me good service, and prices are within a few bucks last time I checked.

For some reason it seems like the only fair feild in 'medicine'. I ask how much service x or y is, and they tell me. Not like a dentist or care clinic where they won't tell you how much even a basic visit will cost. So I feel good about supporting my eye doctors.

I've had a lot of medical issues from cancer, ruptered spleen, collapsed lung, punctured lung, broken bones, torn tendons, ligaments, and muscles, etc, etc. and I hate the medical industry.

EXCEPT my local eye doctor. They have always been VERY reasonable. I've also moved a lot. So it's not like I've been going to the same guy for 100 years. All local optometrists seem to have been good and fair. (with one exception over the years, and I've worn glasses/contacts since 1987)

+1 Costco

I get mine at Costco, A few years ago when I checked they were cheaper than 1800 contacts.

The curvature of my eye does not seem to handle contacts well. I have an astigmatism, and have tried toric lenses, but they still slide around. Any suggestions other than lasic? Sorry for the hijack, I'll delete this post if you'd like.

Thanks for the input. Costco is close, I'll try them (no shipping).
Mattdavis you may have this thread.

gf (optometrist) says try rigid gas permeables...

I bought online as there was a rebate at the time for Oasys lenses, which made it cheaper than costco.

I use 1800Contacts. They are $10 Cheaper per box than my doctor and if Johnson and Johnson ( I use Accuvue) is running a mail in coupon they go ahead and give the coupon price to me at the sale so I don't have to mail in. They send an email to remind me to reorder when I am running low. They store all your info so reorder is two clicks and your done.
