Spied at the dock today: Holden Ute

Never seen one. I came home to do a little research. This is from the Net:

This thing is hot, hot in person! And the one at the harbor is black.

I have 3 pics of the actual vehicle I saw in my cell phone, but I've never downloaded a pic from the phone. Now, where is that USB cable.

RWebb 02-13-2009 01:01 PM

wow - the Ranchero lives!

thx for the spy shot

Zeke 02-13-2009 01:05 PM

Actually, it's compared to the El Camino, but it's a Pontiac if it ever gets made LHD for the US.

Send the pix from your phone to your e-mail, then save the pix to your hard drive.

It's going to be the next Aussie Pontiac. Say hello to the G8 ST, coming in 2010.

VW makes a version (no - not the Rabbit p/u). It's very cool and comes in diesel. Peugot as well. Saw them all over Buenos Aires. In fact, they had all kinds of neat stuff we don't get here.

But, not ONE Yukon XL. That's right! King of the road up here in NA baby! :D

Zeke 02-13-2009 02:55 PM

Yeah, the SVG is probably what I saw. Had a soft cover on the back and I think I can see the ripples in the above pic. Anyway, that lil' sucker is cool. It might have been on the show circuit and is now going back to AU. It had a sticker on it that said who it was built by. I got the idea that it was the RUF of AU and Holden.

Souk, my phone and my plan don't want to cooperate. It says I have to send them to online storage at $ .20 ea, and then I can download them from there. My cell phone is useless to me in that regard. If I can't hook it up to my PC, then f it.

eek. i think i prefer the holden version.

I'd love a new one with a manual trans, probably not this colour though.

Nice looking but totally impractical.
It's a two passenger car that can haul a little tiny bit of cargo.
It isn't a good car, it isn't a good truck.

J1NX3D 02-13-2009 04:37 PM

you'd be surprised what can fit in them. my stepdad used a holden ute for work and towing his race car trailer.

morganb 02-13-2009 05:17 PM

Not really! They are an Australian tradesman Sports Car! They can easily carry 2 motor bikes on the rear and trailers and vans regularly get towed behind them. Some are work and play versions and some just one or the other. If I ever get back to Oz I would likely get one to pull around a boat and be able to throw things in the rear with out worrying about interior damage.

How many people actually use their truck to haul loads of cement or a 5th wheel trailer? At least this thing gives you the ability to haul sheetrock or a rototiller, while still being fun to drive and getting good MPG. Hell, I'd drive one.
