Selling a Used Ladies Rolex Date-Just
My 80 y/o MIL wants to sell her stainless and gold ladies REAL Rolex date just. There are a ton of sites that buy and sell, any suggestions about a reputable dealer?
Thanks

Try Feldmar in West L.A. on Pico. I think they buy vintage watches.

Hugh,
I have done business with Paul Duggan and European Watch Co in Boston and both are reputable.

Timezone is a great resource. Might get a better price by cutting out the middleman retail store.

Offers?
![]() ![]() The reddish color you see on the back of the watch and the clasp is a reflection of me taking the picture above ![]() It works fine, but could probably do with an ultrasonic cleaning of the case by a jeweler.

Like selling a used car, you're better off selling it by yourself then going to a carmax or a another car dealer.
You can always eBay it with a minimum bid or sell it through Craigslist if you don't want to pay a fee. Other place for quick cash is a pawn shop, but I think you're better off trying to sell it here before moving on. Here's one that was sold recently on eBay Last edited by ruf-porsche; 02-20-2009 at 04:24 PM.. |

Timezone is the most common watch site. Another one that is dedicated to Rolex is called TURF - The Ultimate Rolex Forum. A few years ago when I was selling a new in box stainless steel Daytona I used the guy who runs TURF to sell it. He's a real NYC watch merchant. He'll do everything he says he will, exactly the way he says he will. If you ask the question, he will answer it. If you don't ask it, he won't volunteer an answer. But he's a good guy to use to sell the watch to outright, or to use to sell it on consignment. People buying used watches sometimes pay more to buy a consignment watch from a dealer they know than they would over the internet to the person who actually owns the watch.
TURF has a small community and is very similar in look and feel and member participation to PP, both in a tech forum and an off topic forum. If you post on there, a dozen pros and semi pros will walk you through the sale, tell you all the pitfalls, and the site has a page called "good guys" and another one called "bad guys" where people report their sales experience. Check it out. It's my second favorite site behind PPBBS http://www.newturfers.com/
