Time to turn in my P-SOUP membership
Well folks, it has been a pleasure being able to count myself as a member of the most desirable group of undesirables but all good things must come to an end. Gone are the days of getting up late and hanging out at the range, leaving just in time so I can get home before my wife gets back from work. I was getting quite skilled at tidying the kitchen in 2 minutes so it looked as though I'd been really busy all day. Farewell to the Military channel and the History channel that have become such familiar companions when the weather was too wet or too cold to go outside. As of this morning I have to get up early, make my own sandwiches, and go work for a living.
My new job is well worth it though. Remember the zombie vehicle thread? My new engineering position is with the company that makes those whopping great mining trucks. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234843320.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234843608.jpg Oh yeah! I know I'm going to enjoy this. I wish everyone else the very best of luck and hope that there is something equally enjoyable for you guys around the next corner. In the meantime hang in there and keep pushing that resume in front of people. Best Wishes to you all, and if anyone has any really big jack stands... |
Cool & congrats!!!!

Are those photoshopped?
|
I have driven those big Eucs/Cats/Terex trucks...
tres cool... I spent a bit of time overseas... where the first people on a project had to learn how to operate everything... Honey wagon wasn't a fun job lol |

I knew the trucks were big before I got there but nothing quite prepares you for exactly how big. I climbed up the flight of steps to the cab on one of those today and it was like standing on the roof of a two storey house. With it's maximum 360 ton payload this truck weighs just under 600 tons. It has a 90 litre diesel engine that puts out in excess of 3000hp. It is very, very big. Hopefully I'll be able to tell you what they're like to drive soon. :D |
Excellent! Congratulations!

Anything like playing with Tonka trucks?

Congrats, does this make you the first official Pelican recipient of the Obama stimulus package?

Great news!!!
It sure sounds like you will enjoy your new job. Good luck, my friend.SmileWavy |
back in the late 70's I did production for training slide shows. One of our clients was a mining company and we did training for operating rigs like that. I can still remember editing hours of voice over about starting procedures, etc. Of course I missed a few expletives from my boss and we delivered the shows with them intact. Luckily the delicate sensibilities of the drivers weren't offended.
congrats. |

I'm still waiting for someone to bring those pallets full of cash over to see how they fit in my garage, if I get the extension built they'll fit in no problem! Jim - It's funny but it actually reminded me of playing with Tonka trucks as a kid. All I need is a giant sand box. Thanks for all the kind words guys. I really count myself fortunate to have found anything at all, let alone something awesome. I sincerely hope something good is in the works for everyone else on here that has suffered from the downturn. |
One of those would make a really nice motorhome. Like a 4500 sq foot RV with swimming pool.

Great to hear Marc.
I can see it now, You driving that up the Dragon and scooping up all the LEO's. Then we follow thru at a higher than allowed speed. YEHAW. |
congrats! :D:D:D
