Tour of Calif bike race right behind my house today-twice!
The last leg of this bike race is finishing up in downtown Escondido this afternoon. It goes right behind my house twice. They just passed about a 1/4 mike before they turned up Lake Wohlford Rd. on the way to the Palomar Mtn climb. I know those roads well! Then, they come back down later today and make the turn at my neighborhood to finish a few miles away. Kinda cool.
It was sort of anti-climactic(SP?) in that they were past in about 15 seconds. Then, the support vehicle parade. My guess is the next pass will see them spread out a bit more. I told my wife I could lob balloons of paint or something over the back fence at Lance Armstrong and the other riders and make the evening news.

You should enjoy the moment. The Tour de Cali is becoming quite a premier race in cycling.

The live web coverage is pretty cool. Seeing them riding up Palomar makes me want to go for a spirited drive!

The ToC is the premier cycling event in the US. That's not really saying much since the reaction from a lot of motorists when they see a bunch of cyclists holding up traffic is to run them over or scare the crap out of them.

For Levi it's all about protection. That's Lance's job now. He's there to protect Levi - not let him get isolated where he'll be open to attacks from the other riders.
