TV program saved on DVR. how do i burn it onto a disc?

my friend would love a DVD. is this even do-able?

What tv program? It might be easier just to download it using bittorent and burning the file to DVD. That is if the program is popular enough for someone to upload it.

Depends on the DVR and who your provider is

If FIOS the only option is to hook up a DVD recorder and play back/record.

The motorola units they provide have the FireWire ports disabled for playback

U can download and mess around with apples firewire SDK andbget some functionality going but FireWire passes copy protection and most programs are flagged to play back scrambled

If it's a TiVo you may have options

As suggested above look for a torrent

On mine, IIRC I split the output from the DVR to the TV and to the DVD burner (75 ohm coax, line in). So I just play the recorded movie, etc. and press record on the DVD burner.
