That's awesome. A wrenched out 944, looks like it has at least one of the magnesium cup style phones too. A fuch on the ground? Whoa...

It is a lot of fun. Even if the car only lasts a couple of laps.

Competed in this twice, finished 5th the first time and 2nd last time.. long story there. It is huge fun, even though the speeds are relatively slow. Its part smash-up derby, part burning man, part real racing (the smallest part actually). But great fun. The organizer Jay Lamm is a seriously demented/funny guy, he knows how to have a good time.

Calling Jay seriously demented/funny is an understatement!

I know someone with a diesel rabbit pickup that could be made to run with a little bit o wrench work. I think i could buy it cheap and run it some year. Diesel would turn lots o laps.

I have a friend that participates in this every year. They have two cars, a 944S2 and a MBZ 190E that has a 300E motor stuffed in it. These cars look like something right out of a Road Warrior movie. He has been bugging me to partner with him for the last two years. I haven't had the extra dough to pony up though. He says they have an absolute blast every time. I believe him.

One of the gals from our vintage club and a guy who races with us occasionally from Cal ran this last time. She flew down and joined a team who ran a gen 1 RX7. Some of us are talking about trying to put together a team for next year. Sounds like great fun. I just wouldn't want to put much money into it, fine balance between putting together a car that will last more than a few laps and knowing it will get the *&^% beat out of it.
