Best Website for New Car Quote
I'm going to help my Wife's Uncle buy a new Honda Pilot this weekend. This car has not necessarily been on my radar so don't know much about them and how hard I can put the screws to them. Any good websites to obtain the "last best and greatest offer". I've done the Edmunds, cars, com, etc. Thanks

These guys advertise heavily on the radio:
http://www.andersondirect.com/ You could check here, too: http://www.carsdirect.com/home http://autos.msn.com/ I know a good guy in Walnut Creek, if you're interested.

Thanks for the reply Steve. Unfortunately, I'm in So. Cal and we are going to look and buy this weekend. I'll try the websites you suggested. I'm just looking to find THE lowest price available within reason without submitting info to dealers who end up hounding you and calling even though I specify "e-mail contact only".

craigster59,
Be aware that you will probably not get what you are looking for. We did likewise a few months back and although I was EXTREMELY specific only about 50% even bothered responding, while others were either completely off-base (idiotic quotes) or quoting the wrong car (which makes me wonder what information these folks actually receive). I view a situation like this as a 'real' opportunity but was sorely disappointed by the true idiots that eventually received my inquiry. I would be extremely straightforward about not contacting you other than E-mail yet understand that your instructions or requests will either totally ignored or not understood... hopefully things have changed (though I seriously doubt it). We purchased a car yet it was completely outside of this system. I hope your experiences are better than mine.

I got a good deal on a highlander from carsdirect.com
I even went back and tried to get the best deal on my own through another dealer that had almost the exact same car. Carsdirect beat my price by about $800. And I can be a dick when it comes to these sort of things - wife has to leave the room, all those sort of things. I would use them again.

That's the thing, I'd rather skip "dick" mode and not hassle too much (even though I admit I do enjoy it). I did the "get a quote" thru Edmunds and have heard back from 4 people and all tried calling me even though I specifically stated "contact through e-mail only". For a Honda Pilot AWD EX the price has been 27.5-29.7k on a 32k MSRP. I'll give the carsdirect a shot.

Dealer finance, outside loan or cash? Whatever. Let them believe you are financing with them to get your best deal. Then write a check. You won't be popular and I'd suspect they will tell you that you can't do that. You can. The dealers make most of their money on the backside these days.

Find the best dealer price you can online (ebay, autotrader, etc.). Then check out all of the local dealer's websites and email their internet sales managers directly. Submit your lowball-but-not-ridiculous request/offer and see who is willing to bite/negotiate.
