My wife got me Venture Brothers season 1 and season 2 on DVD.

Man, I love that show. It's so wrong, but so funny.

Henchman 21: Here is where you are wrong, my friend. This woman has killed before.
Henchman 24: Allegedly.
Henchman 21: Okay, whatever. But she was a big girl. We are talking about a large, healthy woman of questionable stability.
Henchman 24: Oh, you are totally underestimating the never-say-die scrappiness of a survivor.
The Monarch: Hey, guess what? Nobody cares who would win in a crazy fantasy fist-fight between Anne Frank and Lizzie Borden. We never should have brought the henchmen. We're going to be the only ones there with henchmen!

Brock Samson: You did this! You did this, didn't you? RRRAH!
Baron Ünderbheit: As usual, your detective skills are impeccable, Samson. You have succeeded in exposing my sinister plan to lock myself in a dungeon, chained to an albino.

Triana Orpheus: Dad, I can take care of myself, you know.
Dr. Byron Orpheus: I'm sorry, pumpkin. I trust you to defend your honor. It's just that... MY PUMPKIN'S MAIDENHEAD IS NOT A PRIZE TO BE...
Triana Orpheus: DAD!

Dean Venture: Good thinking, bro'a'mine. And I thought I was supposed to be the smart one
Hank Venture: Ma Venture didn't raise no fools
Dean Venture: W-We don't have a mom, Hank...
[awkward silence]

Dr. Orpheus: Now I don't want to worry you with particulars but I am by trade a necromancer. You know what that means?

Brock Samson: Uh, that you have sex with dead people?

Orpheus: Phile. Necrophile. A necromancer can bring the dead to life!

[The Monarch wakes up on a bed, confused. He's rocking back and forth and hears a zipper unzip]

The Monarch: Ah. Hey. Hey, what the f...? Are you raping me?!

King Gorilla: No.

The Monarch: Oh, go..

King Gorilla: I was gonna.

The Monarch: Gonna? What the f***, King?

King Gorilla: I couldn't get it up.

The Monarch [While King Gorilla is talking]: Ahhh! Lalalalalalalalala

King Gorilla: You're built too much like a girl. I couldn't get into it.

The Monarch: Wait. Wait a... What? This isn't even my cell! What'd ya take me to your place?

King Gorilla: Well, I got porn here. It helps.

The Monarch [leaving the cell]: Ahhh! Lalalalalalalala

Dr. Venture - Stop it! They are Hank and Dean. They have all the same memories. Same annoying tendencies. Same everything. Look, if you have a clumsy child, you make them wear a helmet. If you have death prone children, you keep a few clones of them in your lab.

When I try to watch any Adult Swim she says stuff under her breath about too much pot and vodka, something about IQ and her ex boyfriend.

Little does she know the next few years are going to be pretty rough on her - I gave my son a couple of SGCTC cds from back in the day. He has instructions to only listen to the when mummy isn't in.

My wife and I watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force together...

The Scooby Doo parody is hilarious, as are the episode with Johnny Quest and The Incredibles (Fantastic Four parody that preceded the Pixar movie).

I have not seen the Scooby Doo one. Sounds great, though.

I did catch the Johnny Quest episode. I caught it about 2 mins into the episode, and was quite high, and for the life of me really couldn't figure out what was going on (I mean with Johnny Q being there). Good times.

will say that you should watch the show from the beginning. after a while, it becomes so self referential that it is incomprehensible to newcomers.

Venture Brothers; When I wake up in the middle of the night I always hope it's them on Adult Swim.

Have any of you ever seen a picture of Doc Hammer? He doesn't look anything like I'd expect.

My wife turned me onto VB. She has stated to me that if Brock Samson was a real man, we wouldn't be married. I'm glad he's just a cartoon, but I still am suspect.

I love the episode where Brock Samson kills a guy with his own finger.

Patrick Warburton just makes me laugh. He does the safety lecture for the Disney ride "Soarin'", and he could even make that pretty funny.

And Malatov Cocktease is a pretty good character too...

I think my favorite Brock moment is when he was with Molotov C0cktease and he was pitching a circus tent...

Brock: "I've got to go use the bathroom."

Venture Brothers is one of those shows that you're kinda "eh" about when you first see it, but gets better and better with each episode. I think a lot of it has to do with how self-referential it is... of course, any show that parodies or alludes to Johnny Quest, Doctor Strange, Blade, Hunter S. Thompson, Scooby-Doo, Kafka, Star Wars, and the Fantastic Four - sometimes all within the same episode - has to be great.

That being said, those folks at [adult swim] have really dropped the ball. They haven't come up with a good new show in ages. I remember when they first started doing their own shows (post-Space Ghost, of course): Harvey Birdman, the Brak Show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021 - man, those shows were hilarious. But the crap that's on now? Drinkie Crow? SuperJail? Ughhhh.

Plus, they sold the rights for Futurama to Comedy Central and added King of the Hill to their lineup. Talk about trading-down!

Venture Brothers is definitely one of their best shows. Harvey Birdman was good but I never got into Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Sealab 2021.
