I got a tip from a customer today , wow!!

So I have a first time customer come in this morning. Just a routine state inspection. All goes well, I replace a couple of light bulbs, tell him he will be needing brakes in a few months, I give him the bill($25.00), he pays , no problem we bs for a quick minute, and he jumps in his car to leave. As he is pulling out of the lot, he shouts to me that he left me a tip on the counter.
I dont reallly think too much about it, I do a couple more jobs, and later in the day I am writing up an invoice, I see the envelope he has left me. Holly sheet batman!!! The guy leaves me a pretty large chunk of BLO, . I cant remember saying anything that would lead him to believe that I would do it, and he didnt seem like the type of guy who would either.
In my early 20's. I may have closed shop for the day, and partied like a rockstar, but I swore off the stuff a long time ago.
I just thought that it was a little odd that he would leave something like that without knowing me from jack!!!
Call me lame, but I threw it in the trash. ( I was a little tempted though). I have seen more than one good person wreck their entire life over the stuff, and I really dont think there is any good that can come out of it. I have been to 2 funerals in the past 5 years that were pretty good guys who just never could walk away from that life. One of them stopped his heart, the other did it with a gun, but I blame cocaine for both deaths. That last funeral was enough for me to never look back. Strange times we live in !!

Thats what I thought. He was hoping I would hork it all up my nose, and be calling him tomorrow for some more. My first thought when I looked at it was , if I do this, I wont be home tonight to see my son.

Wow, that takes balls. Especially if you have all of his contact info/license plate #/etc. Actions like that (if/when reported) put you on the cop's radar very quickly.

He (fred) didn't know what it was. Just a suspicion, and wanted to get rid of it because he doesn't dabble in those kinds of things. Cops can't charge him for that.
