Exxon Station - No Ethanol Markings???
I frequent an un-manned Exxon station here in Charleston, SC.
It has eight relatively new pumping stations and absolutely no indications of ethanol content ... no stickers ... nothing. Could it be true that there is no ethanol in this gas? I am not the only one that uses this station under the assumption (hope) that it is ethanol free. It seems that everytime I am there someone asks me if I think there is ethanol in the gas. |
Smell it. Even at 10% there is a detectable odor.

Interesting ...
I thought that there was some federal law that required stickers for ethanol content. |

I think marking is required by law in KS. That way I know where NOT to get gas.

At least you can find ethanol free gas where you are :(
I'd have to drive at least 25 miles to get to the nearest "clean" pump. |
Ethanol-free gas is illegal in Illinois. I for one am comforted by the way my elected officials look out for me. ;)

They don't here. They make you feel better "oh, I found an ethanol-free pump!". But...no...you haven't, they're all laden with ethanol. |
Seems someone told me that in Ohio now, they don't list it when 10% or less. I know they used to, but now pretty much all gas in Ohio has the damn ethanol. I have a 500 gallon tank at home that I used to fill my airplanes with(STC'd for non ethanol containing autofuel). A local agro business used to keep it topped off for me with non ethanol fuel car gas. Last summer they informed me that they could no longer get non ethanol gas. Now when I fly I have to pay the big buck at airports (around $5+ per gallon) for 100LL that craps up the spark plugs. Effing govt subsidized ethanol!!!:mad:

Here is S Carolina they have to put sticker if it has ethanol. I find Exxon is most likely to not have ethanol so when we are driving across state in the Porsche we look for Exxon.

I wish that there was some way to confirm. Seems odd that they would make a special ethanol free delivery to an un-manned Exxon station. You would think that there would be some way to contact Exxon to get info about the station. |
I don't know about contacting Exxon. I'm sure there is some way. The station is probably owned by someone who has a few in the area. The delivery is probably brought in for all those. Maybe call some of the Exxon stations nearby and ask.

Remember, oxygenators are formulated on a county by county basis.
Here in Houston, Harris is a non-attainment county. Ethanol is added. Waller county, which is about 10 miles from, does not contain ethanol. |
