What is Thread trolling?

TGTIW 02-27-2009 08:17 PM

Usually posting single topics or answer to purposely start fights.
Or about 90% of what you'll find in PARF.

It's censorship to be banned from a BBS you don't own? How does that work? Did the gov't. come after you? No? Then it's not censorship. You're free to write and say anything you want and others are free to ignore it.

trekkor 02-27-2009 09:57 PM

What 'other forum'?

Post link or ban!! :D

Begins with a capital "R" and ends with a bunch of rows commonly referred to as something else :D
I could be wrong, but doubt it as I have been through it!

"Do not feed the trolls" and its abbreviation DNFTT redirect here. For the Wikipedia essay, see "What is a troll?". For other uses see Troll (disambiguation).
An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]
DNFTT, shhh! we have some amongst us

I won't post links to the other website because I don't want their server to crash. LOL

Besides, I don't need to help them with their website hit count. LOL

As NOTFARNOW posted I been thrown out of better places than that. LOL

livi 02-28-2009 11:11 AM

I am an unintentional, unavoidable thread troll. Drunk too. Hey hoo..!! :D

svandamme 02-28-2009 01:37 PM

Well, Livi, you're from Sweden where trolls are a historical/cultural thing,
hence you are tolerated to avoid any claims of discrimination of Sweeds.

scottmandue 02-28-2009 02:59 PM

I would not join any club that would accept me... or something like that.

I like to think of myself as more of an Ogre than a troll...

MT930 02-28-2009 03:17 PM

All I ever do here is, troll the the threads :D

Aurel 02-28-2009 04:54 PM

Example of thread trolling:
"I think that most Porsche owners have little penises, what do you think?" LOL

That's such a weak troll. A much better troll would be like:
1 - I have gererator that produces more electricity than it consumes, and would like people to try it for free.
2 - There is no God, and anyone who says so is an idiot.
3 - I heard that Obama was the anti-christ -- what do you think about that?

Or, basically, any post that's blatantly inflammatory. If it happened in a bar, you might call it "picking a fight." If you were out on a boat, dragging something like this through the water, you might call it "trolling," or perhaps "trawling." I've never understood the difference, honestly, but I'm not a fisherman.

the best trolls happen when you dont know your being toyed with till you have already posted 10 msgs in the thread.. Bonus if they can post in the tone and style of the group.
"For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration"

Good troll:

Go into porsche forum and ask them if your _____ brand of car Is faster then an old porsche. Sound like your in a sincere quest for knowledge first. Then after a few msgs make a new post transitioning into saying your _____ will whup butt at the auto-x and your willing to put $500 on the line to prove it. Act totally serious about the bet for a few posts before degrading into "bald old men" insults.

This will result in 5 pages of people wagging there E-dicks in a giant digital peeing contest. Not to mention a giant waist of time for all involved. Fool Proof.
