What is your intention for the car? If you just want to get it running and thrash it " as is " it may be a diamond in the rough. But if you want to make it pristine you're talking a lot of $$$ to wip it into shape. I might offer $250.00 for it. If it REALLY is rust free ( doubt it ) you have a good chassis to start with. I bought a 1975 914 roller for $900.00 with dreams of turning it into a GT clone. I've been working on it for 2 plus years and I'm coming down the home stretch but I have $20,000.00 invested and not done yet !:D

Can't decide what for sure yet. Thought about parting it the rest of thevway out but I would really like to have a driver. I'm going to call the guy later and see if he has a title and what condition that motor and tranny are in. I'm kinds wanting the challenge of seeing how little cash I can outlay to get it driveable. Idk just have see what he says. Can never have too many pcars right?

That one's yard art, young grasshopper.

jyl 02-28-2009 06:01 AM

Looks like a car with negative value.

URY914 02-28-2009 06:09 AM

He should offer you $100 to take it.

A free 914 could easily turn into the most expensive 914 you've ever seen...

trekkor 02-28-2009 09:37 AM

Yes, for $2-3k you can find a pretty decent driver.

Or, for a bit over $20K, you can have a fantastic driver, of the original 914-6 variety.

And it's yellow!

porsche4life 02-28-2009 01:32 PM

Well I may just hold off. Still going to call him when I get a chance. That motor and tranny worth anything?

red-beard 02-28-2009 01:40 PM

It is a tailshift transmission. It is useful for parts for any 901.

porsche4life 02-28-2009 04:22 PM

Hmm maybe I should try to beat him down and buy it all? I think I could get it in the 300 range. Is that chassis worth anything? Should I just go get it all and then offer the chassis for cheap? I would like to have a driver but it would probably be smarter to buy a 4k runner.

Porsche-O-Phile 02-28-2009 04:26 PM

The chassis is worth scrap value from the look of it.

It might make a fun rally/baja racer though.

porsche4life 02-28-2009 05:09 PM

Ok he has no clue on the motor or the tranny and he says its probably 97% rust free. No title

URY914 02-28-2009 06:16 PM

No title? Gee thats always a plus. You need to pass.
