anyone here works for CA state dept? or know policies/??
My dad applied for his passport a while ago. Since he's U.S. citizen by naturalization, he must send in his original certificate with the application. His passport came in the mail without his citizen certificate. When called them, their response was "we can't find it", as simple as that. They simply lost it.
I searched for the form to apply for replacement and found the fee to file the form is $380. Does anyone know any better way to deal with this? Thnks in advance.

We got my son his first passport. We had to send his birth certificate. It has been two weeks since we got the passport. Today we got the birth certificate back. Maybe the state dept will send the naturalization certificate in a separate envelope. Maybe the same will happen with you.

It has been several weeks. But I'll cross my fingers. Thanks.
