Best Buy to start selling . . . Motorcycles?

WTF? Very strange product for a CE store . . .

"Ashland, Ore. — Best Buy may begin selling motorcycles at five West Coast stores this spring.

According to a report in Greentech Media, the CE chain will carry a $12,000 electric motorcycle in select West Coast stores starting in May, with Geek Squad workers possibly providing repair services in empty car A/V installation bays.

The bike, called Enertia, was developed by Brammo, an Oregon business that Best Buy’s venture capital arm invested in last year. The 7-year-old company said it designs and manufactures sustainable specialty vehicles and "performance products for the next generation of transportation.""

12 grand for a bike that goes 45 miles and only hits 53mph??? What's the point? You could have a normal scooter and a lifetime supply of fuel for that price.

What's the point? It's green. And Al Gore approved. Therefore, it must be the best thing to get!

I paid less than that for a brand new BMW K1200S with 167hp, ABS, 6 speed transmission, etc., etc., etc. 0 - 60 in 2.8 sec and if you can keep the throttle opened all the way, I'll bet you'll vomit in your helmet before hitting 120. 43 mpg and about $7 to fill the tank every 215 miles.

Green shmeen.

The title of this thread had me worried.

I like my local shop, and I'd hate to see a "big box" put them out of business.

Now I know I have nothing to worry about.
