Anyone use ACT! Contact Manager?
While I am in IT, I have never used, seen or supported ACT!. But my best friend is a long time consultant and used it for 10+ years. Recently his hard drive had a catastrophic crash, he had no backup and lost all his data. YIKES!
I have been told by a pretty knowledgeable guy that ACT! does not store data in traditional locations or sequences, so a backup solution probably would not have saved my buddy's data. Is this true? Anyone moved from ACT! to a different product? Recommendations, suggestions are welcomed. |
You've got to speak English if you expect responses. :D

006, it appears that stories of your demise are greatly exaggerated!
Any chance you are coming to Tail of the Dragon with Karl? |

I used to use ACT! years ago. Don't know much about the current version now produced by Sage. It's just a database or two - the files exist somewhere. You could poke around the Sage KB for some answers.
A proper backup would have definitely saved your buddies bacon. I use Sage accounting software, they have a simple backup command to backup everything into one file, and I replicate the entire mess to an online backup. If he is used to using ACT!, switching is tough. Why should he anyway, it's not the programs fault his HDD crashed. |
Although I hate the Bill and Ballmer crowd I hear the MS CRM is really good. I use Zohos CRM, fine for smb's
