MGA market??
Any one out there familar with the MGA market? I have a friend who's sister is thinking about selling a 62 MGA that her late husband had. It was restored in the late 80's to excellent standards and is still in very good condition with the right amount of "patina". Any idea of of a value range?
thanks, Ben

I've looked at them for years, but really dont want to pay for a great car. Drivers are under 10k which is where I've been look. Thing is, you see listings for 'nice' cars all over the map. A good forum with lots of traffic is http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/index.php . If you post there I'm sure you'll get some more specifics.

Hi Ben,
Like Chris, I am seeing asking prices all over the map these days. I have seen quite a few listed in the mid-teen range, but don't know what they're doing in terms of final price. Twin-cams are still pulling the most money and you see those often around the 25-30 range. The sub-10K cars I have personally looked at have tended to have pretty serious rust issues. Feel free to PM me if i can be of any help

Ben, Chris REALLY knows these cars...if you're not too far apart, you might let Chris have a peek. (edit) If you were more geographically desirable to me, I'd take a look. '62 was my favorite MGA year. My deceased "best buddy" had a white one... it was a damned fun little car.

It was my father's fav car as well. I had "The Talk" about girls in it with the top down at 70 MPH one afternoon.
It was responsible for a great deal of confusion and comedy because I was only catching bits and parts of the conversation in between the wind noise and the buffetting. I'll always remember the starter switch. I thought all cars started that way. |

The pull out switch...yep, leave it to lucas and the brits to do things bassackwards. Or...maybe it was everybody else who was wrong?
![]() '62 was unique...the final year of the MGA, it had an inset grille, and "sideways" tailights. My buddy bought it after seeing pics of the MGB's...thought the B's were wayyy too luxurious, with roll up windows and all...

Ah yes, I had a 58 MGA when I was in High School. My Art teacher, who was a 25 year old fox had a 62 twin cam. Occasionally we would blast around some back roads after school. I still think of her fondly - the teacher- not the MGA!
