Asians on screen
 

Is it me or are there more and more Asians appearing on TV and movies? Mainly Asian girls but some guys too. Here in the SF Bay Area, every channel has at least one Asian chick as a news anchor, more as reporters. We do have a very large Asian population as well Latino so that would make sense.

I like seeing diversity on screen. Asian chicks still don't do anything for me though.

Bet they're born and bred Calif girls. If so they're families had enough brains to adapt US culture and first names. Those girls are more US than 2nd generation Calif and have more class.

that japanese porn star isnt going to ruffle up cantdrv55. me neither. that caught in the headlights, dumb look, japanese men find arousing is a mystery to me. maybe it is the anime lover in them...young, dumb, and easy to dominate! ever watch a japanese porn?...that anemic "chirp" the chicks make to verbalize their pleasure cracks me up. i have a friend that mixes the sound into music...funny.

It's about time. But almost all roles are for females, usually as love interests for caucasians. No/rare strong asian male roles, men are often cast/played effeminate, if not bad guy being beaten by caucasian (see Chuck Norris). About the only lead strong asian actor I can remember in western production movies is Chow Yun Fat, whose movies didn't do so well. And that was after he was a mega star in HK. Hopefully, this will change.

but russel wong is so dreamy.

i know so many young asian girls that get worked up over that guy. he never got anymore famous, than being the ultimate peckerhead in joyluckclub.

Wong has never been a leading role IIRC, usually some bad guy or cad - as in Joy Luck. Jackie Chan/Jet Li are released here but are generally HK produced. They are very niche market, ie fighting (including Romeo Must Die with Li and Wong) and aren't generally accepted in all genres.

I know non-Asian girls who also think Wong is good looking, I think, partially because he is not full chinese, although I would be happy to be wrong.
